  1. Kia ora and happy new year Karolina. What interesting facts! I'm not sure I'd like to eat a cake with coins in or smash plates against my friends house. I bet there are good reasons for these traditions though. Did you find out? How did your whānau celebrate new years?

  2. Kia ora Karolina,

I love your creative and happy new year image! Well done finding some great facts about new years celebrations around the world. You’ve written some great points and I learnt a lot from your post!

What did you enjoy most when learning about the different new years traditions in other countries and cultures? Which celebration was your favourite or the most interesting?

What did you and your whanau do for new years?

    Keep up the awesome mahi.

    Ngā mihi,

    1. Bula Vinaka Lauren! I enjoyed finding out what other people did for luck in their country, I'm not sure what we do for luck in Fiji... I think my favourite is the one where they burn dolls, reason 1 I AM TERRIFIED OF DOLLS SO I AM HAPPY THEY ARE IN THE FIRE! Reason 2 It takes away the bad things!
Me and my family, well not family since almost all my family is in Fiji but my Nana who lives with us couldn't come to my Aunties place since she can't sit for long distances and she can't climb long stairs so yeah. We went to my Aunties house and slept over

    2. Bula Vinaka Karolina,

I hope you had a lovely new years at your aunties, even if your Nana couldn't come! Prehaps you can research or ask your whanau how New Years is celebrated in Fiji, that would be interesting to learn about.

I wonder why they burn dolls, that's very interesting and different to other countries! There are definitely some strange looking dolls in the world, so i understand your fear!!

I hope you are having a fantastic summer.

      Ngā mihi,
      Lauren
